We went outside.  The great outdoors.  Crazy I know.   After spending the morning lazing around in pj’s, enjoying a big breakfast and just a little quiet family time – we went outside.  And we walked.  We went to the coffee shop, and the kids were treated to donuts.  Some may laugh at that, but honestly – they were both very excited to walk to get such a treat.   As we walked in, they raced to the counter to see the donuts on display.  So many choices!  So my husband and I got our coffees and the girls got their donuts and they were so happy with what they got.  And as we walked along the water back home, we just chatted about different things, and enjoyed the scenery and I couldn’t help thinking, “this is perfect”.  I really hope my kids never lose their sense of happiness.  It was a simple donut, but they were appreciative and happy.  Those are some of the best times.  A simple walk, time together.  No tv, no video games, no noise other than the birds in the trees, and the odd car going by.  I wonder how often we get those opportunities anymore. 

And it was so much better than what we did yesterday.  We decided to clean out our boxes of “stuff” that was piled up in the basement.  Boxes and boxes of kids crafts, and paperwork from school that I could never part with; old birthday cards – so much “stuff”.  But, I can tell you this – I had an amazing find.

I found my old game of Pac Man.  Old habit, bad habit and addiction –  the only game I was ever really good at.   My kids watch in awe at it’s simplicity.  “So, uh, mom, what are you supposed to do?”  “Which one am I?”.  Better than any of these new games if you ask me.

    The Sting, who have won 3 of their last 4 games, are coming off a win over the CHL’s top ranked team London on Monday. While the Attack just had a 6-game win streak end, with a 4-2 loss in Saginaw back on Sunday.

       Sarnia’s Heath McCormack is to be honoured by the Sarnia Golf & Curling Club this evening.

          McCormack, born in Michigan, will be represening Team USA at the World Curling Championship in Switzerland next month (March), after taking the U-S title with a 5-4 win over a Minnesota-based rink in Pennsylvania Saturday.

The ceremony at Sarnia Golf & Curling starts TONIGHT at 8:30pm.
